About this bike

The Giant Contend AR 1 is a premium all-road bike that combines Shimano 105 performance with Giant's versatile Contend platform. Its lightweight ALUXX-grade aluminium frame is paired with a full-carbon Advanced-grade fork with an OverDrive steerer for sharp, precise handling. Balanced road geometry offers a comfortable yet agile position, while the D-Fuse composite seatpost and Giant Contact SL D-Fuse handlebar absorb road vibration for a smoother ride. A Shimano 105 groupset with 50/34T gearing and a wide 11-36T cassette delivers crisp shifting and easy climbing gears. Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes with flat mounts and 12mm thru-axles provide powerful, consistent stopping in all conditions. Giant P-R2 disc wheels support tubeless tyres up to 38mm and come fitted with 700 x 38C tyres for comfort on rough roads and light gravel. Cork bar tape with gel adds comfort on long rides. Available in sizes S to L in Abyss Black, the Contend AR 1 is a refined all-road performer.
